For you who might be interested in details of the work
1. The wings
Made from Vinyl and a DVD. The vinyl was a horror to cut, it got harder closer to the centre, and my hands hurt for days afterwards. The DVD, like all DVDs,divided in two parts, top and bottom. The parts become very thin, but I was delighted to find that both parts were useful.
2. The body
Basically cable covered in paper mache. Diamond shaped scaled made from CDs. It's an easy to make shape, and looks good.
3. Wing attachment
I sadly have no picture of the wing construction without the wings. Its basically a piece of vinyl resting on her neck and bet to make good attachment for the wings.
4. Underside
The black underside scales were made from vinyl and bent using boiling water. The inside of the legs was the worst place to glue, I wish I had smaller hands.
5. Complete
Yeah, she looks like that with a matchbox for size comparing.
Like all dragons, and females, she love flattery (;
Any questions, ask away!
Also, I'm thinking about doing a project like this for some of my old CD's, and I was hoping to see more step-by-step pieces.
CDs are to hard for cutting with any kind of knife. I've tried. You just end up cutting yourself. I've tried a long rage of weapons, and scissors is the best so far.
